What If

Kane Brown wrote a song called What Ifs?  Take a break and listen to his song here.

What if you tried something for the first time and it worked out?  We all have, this happens all the time in life.

What if you never applied for the job you are in now because you were afraid to fail?  What if you never tried your favorite restaurant?  You would have missed out.

For those of you that have never used an assessment to help you during the selection process or with managing and developing employees, what if you used the right assessment and it helped you?  You might have less stress during the day and sleep better at night.  Your team or company might be the best in the area, your industry, the US or the World.

For those of you that are using assessments in your selection process and using them to manage employees, you understand, and you are reaping the benefits.  How many times has a candidate appeared great during interviews, then you assess them, and the caution flags saved you from making a poor hiring decision?  How much more focused are you with managing one or more employees when you have an objective baseline and scores helping you better understand their strengths and weaknesses?  Its less guesswork and more reliable knowledge.  You too are less stressed during the day and sleep better at night.

What happens when you do not use assessments in the selection process?  You increase your odds of hiring poorly or not hiring the best qualified candidate each time.  You miss out on asking focused interview questions on areas of concern drawn out by an assessment that are not drawn out with interviews or the rest of the selection process.  You miss out on comparing candidates on a level playing field.

What happens when you are not using assessments for managing and developing employees?  It takes you longer to figure out how to manage the employee or you end up managing them poorly.  You take longer or are unable to figure out what would help the employee get to the next level.  You are unable to describe the employee with pinpoint accuracy, rather you guess with a vague description and superfluous adjectives.

Ignorance is bliss.  Until you assess your qualified candidates, you do not know what you have been missing.
